CWS Sliding & Patio Doors: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

If your CWS sliding or patio door is sticking, dragging, fogging, or leaking, we can usually match the part and install it the same week. Most CWS sliding door repairs in Dallas run $180 – $640 depending on what failed, and full roller-and-track replacements typically land between $350 and $900 installed. You’ll notice it first as a door that suddenly takes real muscle to move, a rattle that wasn’t there last month, or condensation you can’t wipe off the inside of the glass. That’s the moment to call, because a dragging CWS door only chews up its rollers faster the longer you force it.

We’re Westlight Windows Dallas, an independent service provider, not a CWS dealer. We stock CWS-compatible rollers, handles, latches, tracks, and weatherstripping alongside parts for PGT, CGI, and ES Windows. If you’ve got a CWS product on a Dallas home, we know what fits it, what doesn’t, and what’s worth paying OEM prices for versus what a quality aftermarket part does just as well.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS built sliding patio doors across several series lines over the years, and the part you need depends on the door’s era. The most common CWS sliding doors we see in Dallas are the 700 Series and 7500 Series aluminum sliders, along with a vinyl series that showed up on homes built after roughly 1995. The giveaway is the label: open the sliding panel and look at the top edge of the frame or the interlock stile. You’re looking for an etched or printed label with a series number, a size code (like 6060 or 6080, which translates to the rough opening width in inches), and sometimes a date code.

Here’s the gotcha: CWS roller housings changed between the aluminum and vinyl series. A roller assembly from a 1980s-era 700 Series door won’t seat properly in a post-2000 vinyl frame, and forcing it bends the housing tabs. We match the roller to both the series and the door weight. For most CWS sliders, we carry universal-fit stainless steel rollers from aftermarket suppliers that hold up better in Texas heat than the original nylon-wheel versions. But for handles and latch sets, we recommend OEM CWS or a direct-fit equivalent, because the screw-hole patterns on CWS hardware rarely line up with generic replacements.

If you’re not sure what you have, take a photo of the label and the existing hardware with your phone. Text it to us before we come out, or describe it when you call. It saves a trip.

Signs Your CWS Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • The door grinds or takes two hands to move. Roller bearings have flattened or the nylon wheel has cracked. In Dallas, the fine silt dust from construction and the dry summer air get into the roller channel and grind the bearings down faster than coastal climates see. Forcing the door scores the aluminum track, doubling the repair cost.
  • The panel sits low and scrapes the track. The bottom roller adjustment screws have backed out or the roller housing is bent. You can usually spot a sag by looking at the gap between the sliding panel and the fixed panel at the top versus the bottom. A door that’s low enough to scrape has already started wearing the track.
  • You can wiggle the door when it’s closed. The latch or the keeper is worn, or the interlock weatherstripping has compressed flat. A locked CWS slider shouldn’t rattle in a Dallas windstorm. If it does, the lock isn’t doing its job keeping the panel seated.
  • Fog between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit’s seal has failed. This is a glass replacement, not a hardware fix, but it shows up on CWS doors that have faced two decades of Texas sun. The Dallas heat-load on west-facing doors is brutal on edge seals.
  • Water pools on the interior track after rain. The weep holes in the bottom track are clogged, or the door’s weatherstripping is letting water through the interlock. We clear weeps and replace dried-out seals as part of routine CWS slider service.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what CWS slider work costs in Dallas, installed, as of 2026:

  • Roller replacement (both panels, four rollers): $180 – $390
  • Track cleaning and lubrication with minor track repair: $95 – $210
  • Handle and latch replacement: $140 – $330, depending on OEM vs aftermarket hardware
  • Weatherstripping replacement (full perimeter): $120 – $280
  • Full roller, track, and hardware overhaul: $350 – $900

Every quote includes the parts, labor, cleanup, and a written warranty on our work. We give you the price before we touch the door, and that price doesn’t change when we’re standing in your living room. That’s the Kingswell Guarantee: written price first, real arrival window, cleaner site than we found, and a printed guarantee on the finished job. If our repair fails within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. No phone tag, no negotiating.

DIY or Call Us?

Sliding door work isn’t as dangerous as garage door springs or electrical panels, but a full glass panel on a CWS slider can weigh 80 to 120 pounds. That’s a two-person job gone wrong in a second if the panel tips. What you can safely do: vacuum the bottom track, check the weep holes with a pipe cleaner, and spray the track with a dry silicone lubricant. What we’d rather you not do: pull the panel off the track to inspect rollers. Mis-seating a heavy panel bends the frame and turns a $200 roller job into a $600 frame repair. Plus, CWS adjustment screws are easy to strip if you use the wrong driver size. Call us at (361) 441-0865 and Owen’s crew will take care of it properly. If it’s a simple fix, we’ll tell you that over the phone before we ever schedule a visit.
